Wacom Feel driver for Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel
Hello, I really hope someone from Wacom driver tech support can offer some assistance please. I have an issue that's been bothering me for quite some time.
I bought an Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel laptop last year, it was advertised as having Wacom EMR, which is one of the reasons I bought it. Unfortunately there's no way to configure the pen because no driver has been supplied by Acer. I have contacted Acer and they haven't been very helpful. So I've been doing my own research.
I believe the included pen is a UD EMR 2.0 pen. Other forums say it's a "S-Pen"/"Penabled"/"Feel" EMR pen.
The ConceptD 9's pen is the same.
I thought that if it is a Feel pen that the Wacom Feel driver may work. The driver does install which I took as a good sign because on the driver's web page it says that a warning will say 'Computer unsupported' if that was the case, and that the driver would roll back any changes.
The issue I have is that when I launch the installed Wacom Pen app, it loads for a while and then comes up with this window:
Please find below 4 screenshots from Device Manager of 2 HID-compliant pens and 2 I2C HID Devices:
My question is, does my laptop look as though it could theoretically be compatible with the Feel driver and that it's just not in the driver's inf files, or is it not possible at all for some other reason?
Your help will be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you require anymore information, the stuff I provided is what I thought may help, but I don't know if it's the correct info. This is not my area of expertise so I'm grasping at straws!
Many thanks.

This is a tricky one. Although that might be Wacom hardware in your Acer laptop, we do not develop the implementation of the system drivers directly. This is done by the manufacturer.
Unfortunately, we have no means to help with this since we don't know how the integration with the system is done.
The Wacom driver you installed will always install because it's on Windows, but doesn't mean it will be compatible with the hardware.

Hi @João thanks very much for your reply and sorry for taking a while getting back to you.
When you say it's tricky because you don't know how it's been implemented, I'm happy to contact Acer with any questions you'd need to know to determine whether it could be potentially compatible or not.
Can you advise on what questions I should ask their tech support, please? If I could - somehow - find a solution to this issue I'd honestly be a very very happy chappy.

No problem at all.
As for what to ask, you would need to ask Acer for a driver what would allow you configure the buttons of the pen. Unfortunately, this is something that we are not able to develop.

Hi @João I'll suggest this to Acer again. I doubt they will make a driver though because the device has been out for 3 years and they already said last year there were no current plans and that the manufacturer didn't provide a driver.
When you said that this situation is tricky because you don't know how EMR has been implemented, does that mean that if you did have the relevant info from Acer, it'll inform you on whether a future update to the Feel driver could potentially help this issue or not?
If this is the case what information would Wacom require from Acer? I would love to find a solution to this, so am happy to ask Acer.
Like I said in my original post, the device seems to be using a "UD EMR 2.0"/ "S-Pen"/"Penabled"/"Feel" EMR pen, so I still have my fingers crossed!0 -
I don't know if I am explaining this correctly. It is not that we are missing information from ACER.
When such hardware is integrated into a computer, regardless of the technology used (EMR, Feel or AES), we provide the OEM all the necessary drivers for the hardware to work.
If the hardware is supported by our generic driver (the one you installed) then you will be able to change the settings using this tool.
I say this is tricky because even though it is our hardware, we do no handle the implementation into the system so have no means to help.
We are not able to develop an interface to help you change the settings for this model.

Hi @João you've explained this well, I understand now.
I'll pester Acer again. Thanks very much.
