Unable to use pen after a few seconds of plugging in my CTH-490 device.

My Intuos PT S CTH-490 that I recently located starts up just fine, and I have all of the latest drivers installed, but after a few seconds of plugging it in the tablet does not recognize the pen anymore. 

I would really like to solve this problem as I am an artist who would like to expand to digital art. 

I have replaced the nib, installed older drivers, tried restarting the Tablet Input Service, etc... please advise!

  Thanks for reaching out. 

  I will assume you are using Windows since you mentioned the Tablet Input Service. 

  Can you confirm which version of Windows and which driver version? 

  • When the pen stops working, are there any error messages in the Wacom Center?
  • Does it always stop working after the same exact amount of time?
  • What do you do to get the pen to working again? 
  • What happens when you unplug and plug the USB cable again? 
  • What happens when you restart the driver from the Wacom Center?
