Bug: Wacom Notes fails to sync
Wacom Notes keeps falsely saying a newer version exists on the server (which could not possibly be true as I have the latest version on my machine).
It then fails to sync persistently unless I edit the file (and it recognizes the latest edit is newer than the version on the server). This is also flaky, as it may still fail to sync (but it won't give the error about having a newer version).
UX wise, it would be so much easier if they let the user view both versions side by side to decide. At the very least, it could at least give (time of sync, machine of sync).
This problem has happened on different internet connections at different locations (all high-speed fibre).
---
I've been going back and forth with support since November, but I don't think they've logged it as a bug to the developers (as I've heard nothing from them).
Note: This could only be a problem with how they're managing the sync.
I've even provided them with a video of the failure.
Other details:
- My system clock is configured to "Set the time automatically" and is currently off by +0.451 s according to time.gov (no, this cannot be fixed, nor should it), and was last synchronized by time.windows.com at 03/12/2024 13:15:58.
- I've spent considerable time testing the UI to see if I can identify conditions to trigger the bug to no avail. This requires examining logs (or the logic in the synchronization code).
- It can't be a driver issue, as that plays no role whatsoever in synchronization.
- My connection is high-speed (1gb/s), stable, and I've confirmed that there are no other connection issues when sync fails.

Re: troubleshooting. There are limits to troubleshooting this problem on my end. The error message does not give enough information. It doesn't disclose why it thinks one is newer (e.g. timestamp), confirm whether the files are different (or their sizes), nor does it allow me to see the differences side by side.
When it fails to sync, it does not say what exactly is failing. Is there some connection issue? Is it just some failure in the software? With the server?
It needs the developers to at least look at the logs to see why it incorrectly thinks it has a newer version when it does not, and possibly a client side diagnostic build or specialized application to identify why sometimes unable to sync.

Dear Keldon Alleyne,
This has been escalated and raised with the devs. It is currently being investigated. if you have anything to add, please refer to the support ticket as it will be easier to pass this along to the devs.

It's happening again. It asks me to confirm which version I want to keep 3 times, then sync works. But a few days later it does the same thing with the same note.

This is still happening - notes failing to sync at all between two devices.
