If you are already running macOS 27 (Golden Gate), have a Wacom driver installed, and receive a notice that an update is available, you may need to take additional steps in order to download and install the update for the first time.
The below steps highlight the process for a driver update, but the workflow is the same if a firmware update is available.
Data Access Blocked (notification)
Upon opening Wacom Center you will see a notification that an update is available. Clicking the Update "Install update" button downloads the driver as usual, however, when the download is complete a new OS notification will appear in the top right of the screen as shown here:
Clicking the "Manage" button in that notification will open the System Settings to Privacy & Security > Files & Folders.
This notification is from the operating system, and like other notifications, it can be easy to miss. The notification will eventually time out. If so, you will need to manually navigate to 'Files & Folders' in the macOS System Settings, to perform the below steps.
Files & Folders Permissions
This will bring you to the Files & Folders section of the System Settings.
Click the Chevron next to UpgradeHelper to expose the associated control that needs to be modified.
Enable the option for Data shared by Wacom Display Settings and affiliated apps in order for our update process to function properly.
You will then need to log out of the current user and log back in to reset the environment. Once logged back in, you can then perform the update in Wacom Center by clicking the Install update button and the update will operate as expected.
