wacom tablet malfunctioned

According to my laptop my wacom tablet (Intuos Pro M, PTH-651) malfunctioned and does not recognize what it is. I've used some different cables but it still doesn't work. When plugging it in the tablet lights up for a second before turning off again and then I recieve the error message. Does anyone know what's wrong? Is my tablet just broken or is there something I can do to fix it?
