Bulging tablet

I have an Intuos BT M tablet (probably since 2018). It works fine for everything I need, but lately have noticed it's got a bulge in it, centered near the control buttons. This does not look normal! And it's rocking a bit on the desk surface, like a warped frying pan. What's causing it, and is it time to get a new tablet?

  It's very rare, but Lith-ion batteries can bulge when they have been damaged some how. This can be followed by them bursting into flames. 

  Any battery powered device that is bulging should be treated as hazardous.
