Pen tablet cursor abruptly jumping around

I have a wacom pen tablet model CTL490 which I've had for many years with no problems. Today, I was in the middle of sketching in Clip Studio when the pen suddenly began jumping to a different part of the screen mid stroke. If I draw a horizontal line across the screen, nine times out of ten there will be a sharp V shape in the middle of it as the cursor suddenly jumps to a point lower on the screen. I was sketching normally when this started so I don't think it was a change in the settings or the drivers, unless they somehow changed mid pen stroke. I've tried restarting the drivers, unplugging the tablet and plugging it back in, and restarting Clip Studio to no affect.
