Where To Begin With My Old Intuos Tablet?
I have an old functioning Intuos Graphics Tablet GD-1212-U. Without boring everyone with the curious details as to why...I have made a quantum upgrade in my desktop computer environment. We are talking about a 14-year span without having purchased a new Mac. So, I have jumped from an original iMac (early 2008) environment (running OSX El Capitan, v. 10.11.6) to my "new" 2022 iMac running macOS Monterey 12.2.1 -- all in one fell swoop. Can I download drivers or patches to be able to utilize my old Intuos tablet? Or is there some type of hardware upgrade? Forgive my sophomoric questions, I simply do not know where to begin. Perhaps I just need to purchase a new tablet. Thanks in advance for any sincere advice and/or input.

Hi Robert Lezuch,
That is a relic you got there. That is the first generation Intuos released in 1998. It's 10 generations old (sort of...). It's really cool to read that it is still working.
Unfortunately, there is no Wacom driver that will support that model in Monterey. The last official driver we released for this model was on Mac 10.7.
If you need any recommendations on a replacement, please let me know but the current equivalent would be the Wacom Intuos: https://www.wacom.com/en-de/products/pen-tablets/wacom-intuos

Hey João,
Yeah, I’ve got a room full of relics, including SyQuest drives and cartridges, magneto-opticals, an old blue and silver PowerMac, Iomega Zip drive, ancient (heavy) monitors, floppy discs, old software like Freehand, Quark XPress, and even the Fractal Design Corporation version of Painter…along with the pre-Corel transition called Procreate (as opposed to the 2011-onward completely different Procreate group who developed the app for use on only iPad and iPhone). So, my old tablet resides among its contemporaries. I sure appreciate your helpful response and the link. Time to shop and step back into the present to enjoy the new technology. Thanks again!
