Intuos CTL-4100 Changing orientation to Portrait
Good evening,
I've just started using my Wacom tablet again, however, for some reason it will no longer give me the option of using it in portrait orientation. I have some specific use cases for the tablet and I require it in Portrait. I've Googled and found the instructions which say the software has an option to change the orientation. However, it is not present in my version of the software, which is using the most up-to-date drivers.
Can anyone advise how the orientation can be changed?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom ODonovan,
Are you sure this was ever an option?
I don't know by heart but I am pretty sure this was never available for the CTL-4100.
It is not mentioned in the manual at all: https://101.wacom.com/UserHelp/en/TOC/CTL-4100.htmlThis is an option for other models like the Intuos Pro: https://101.wacom.com/UserHelp/en/TOC/PTH-460.html
When this feature is available, it is usually listed under Mapping:

I had it previously, up until coming back to the tablet last night it’s always been in portrait mode. This is why I’m frustrated that it’s now gone.

Hi Tom ODonovan,
Sorry for the late reply but I was checking with our teams to confirm if this has been a feature of this model or not.
We have checked all the data and the orientation option was never a part of this model, from the beginning of the development until today.
Perhaps you used a different model in the past that did have this feature but I can guarantee will all certainty that the Wacom Intuos (CTL-*100**) never had this feature.
Currently this feature is available on the Intuos Pro models.

No problem, this is the only graphics tablet I’ve ever owned but I definitely had the ability to use it in portrait mode as I had it attached to a kneeboard on my leg for writing while in Virtual Reality. I don’t actually have another use for it, that’s what it was bought for.
Thanks,
Tom

I have the same issue. I have just bought a Intuos medium Bluetooth (model CTL-6100WLE-S) and when I first used it yesterday, I was able to change the orientation to Portrait in the Wacom Center - so I know for a fact that it is possible. But today, the option to change the orientation has disappeared. Please can you advise how to get the option back?

Hello,
I kindly request the orientation feature for Wacom CTL-4100.
I would like to use this with a vertical monitor. Otherwise, I am panning the mapping manually.
Current configuration:
Tablet Driver Version: 6.4.4-3
Control Panel Version: 6.4.4-3
Can you provide an estimate of when this may become available? Which versions?
Thank you,
Eric Meyer

As a workaround, I found that opensuse 15 with the KDE plasma desktop has an orientation setting that seems to work well.

Hello, I've found a way to do this.
- Save a backup pref using PrefUtil.exe, Which can be found in "Program Files/Tablet/Wacom/"
- Follow the file editing process for the file that was saved using prefutil in the webpage below
https://www.fomfus.com/articles/how-to-change-the-orientation-of-your-wacom-tablet-on-macos/ - I was able to rotate it upside down using a value of 3, you can try 2 or 4 for portrait.
Developers need to understand, Orientation is a big feature for tablets, taking that away will never help. Thanks,

Thanks for the info, Sumit. I also found the solution of saving/editing/restoring a backup preferences file to work. For my case, Orientation value 0 is what was needed for vertical orientation with the buttons on the right.
What is interesting is that when I switch to the "Mapping" tab in the Wacom Table Properties app, the "Orientation" drop down is visible for a split second and then disappears.

Thanks for the information, I used the PrefUtil.exe and tried 2 and 4 to get the buttons to be on the right side and that did not work. So, I put in 5 to see if that would do it and it did. I'm also using it in a virtual reality flight sim as a kneeboard.

How come this is an option in a chepaer One By Wacom M (CTL-672) and isn't in the more expensive "Intuos" lineup? This is only a matter of enabling item in the driver options, there are 'hacks' which allow to set it, so it IS enabled internally.
The only reason why I had bought second wireless 4100 was because I wanted to take electronic notes VERTICALLY on part of my wide screen.
Without this option it is simply useless, because I can't map it conveniently to the vertical page i'm doing notes. In horizontal mode the space available is not enough for taking notes.
Why am I forced to by 'pro' line (for professional artists), where all I need is simply a note taking feature...
I'm also missing the 'precision' mode on the CTL-672 lineup, which IS also available and works fine (but only once enabled by the options save&edit&restore flow).
To be honest, at least with the 'vertical' settings - i feel cheated by your marketing, because in all the materials it was told that this is (optinally) a feature, which would have been displayed here and there in the options.
I haven't tried to look into individual user manuals of individual products, though.
On the other hand, how can we trust these information, as for example in a page:
https://101.wacom.com/UserHelp/en/WCAccessDevice.htmthere is a 'Intuos Pro S' device shown which has even settings shown for the 'key ring'. Using suggested induction (what's documented -> that's in the product), wouldn't it mean that there should also be settings for 'key ring' displayed?
I'm sorry, but all this mixture is misleading - to say at least.0 -
i could have sworn there was a portrait setting on this as well. i'm a bit disappointed that wacom removed it. I also only used the same tablet in portrait mode.i'm kind of tired dealing with wacom driver issues.
will follow this thread in case update ever pushed fixing this. til then, looking at other options
