Driver 6.4.4-2 and Sonoma
Hi,
Driver version 6.4.4-2 on macOS 14.1 (Sonoma) keeps exiting. I can restart it, but it's annoying. This happens on my M1 Mac mini and my M1 MacBook Pro with CTL-4100 and CTL-4100WL.

Happens to me as well. I have to restart four-five times every day. Worst product ever put out. Shameful.

same problem ...

Unfortunately same problem here after updating to Sonoma from Ventura. To get it to work at all on my M1 MBP I had to take it to the local Apple Store and that took them over an hour to sort it out.
Also, what is the best way to restart the Wacom app? The only method I have found is to reinstall the app each time.

Mine started long before Sonoma. I quit the program and then restart it again. Sometimes, it takes several tries. I don't understand how Wacom lets this problem linger for years,

Sometimes the driver restarts on its own. Other times I have to use the app to restart the driver. When that stops working I have to restart the machine. And then the cycle repeats.

I don't know whether Wacom reads this so I opened a ticket.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Could Wacom support please provide help?

Hello everyone,
This is a known issue. The driver team is working on it and a fix will be released with a new driver as soon as possible.

I am sorry to say that despite Wacom's promises of fixing this horrendous problem, it has been going on for a long time. Maybe even years.

Joao, it's been a month. No results. Rebooted twice, no device. Took 5 minuts of beachball to uninstall drivers. Now I'm going to reboot a couple of more times to install the driver.
This was a complete failure of the driver to come back on reboot.
The lingering problems:
1. Massive delay on reboot - takes a very long time for the driver to connect with the device.
2. The settings at the bottom of the System Settings is atrocious. The settings fall off the bottom of the screen and are often unresponsive.
It's quite obvious you do not have a Mac in your lab for testing.

Hi Doug Machin,
The bug reported initially in this thread has been been fixed with the latest release: https://cdn.wacom.com/u/productsupport/drivers/mac/professional/releasenotes/Mac_6.4.4-5.html
If you haven't yet, please make sure you update your driver.
About your lingering problems:
- That is probably some performance issue related with either outdated hardware, or too many apps trying to start when you boot your Mac. Also be weary if you are using any 3rd party performance boosting software as this tends to interfere with the driver and cause more problems than solve.
- Could you please post an example so we can visualize what you see and report this to the team.

I can confirm it takes a while for the driver to connect with the device. I see this daily on two different M1 Macs. This is not only during startup; this also happens with wake from sleep after connecting the device. I've wondered if things would go faster if the devices were connected via USB-C rather than USB-A.
However, for me, the devices always eventually connect and stay connected with the latest driver.

It is also known that Mac only allows the driver to start once you are logged into the user account. It is not possible to load the driver and use the pen before this.
