Wacom Cintiq Pro 22 and 'No signal' + other issues
Hello, I'm writing here since I'm at the end of my rope and really frustrated.
I've been having issues with my new cintiq pro 22. First, the one cable-setup with usb-c (+ power cable ofc) didn't work.
Yes, I tried it with the cable that was sent with the device.
Yes, I tried both the recommended and the other usb-c port of the cintiq, just to be sure.
Yes, I tried different ports from my computer.
Yes, I also double-checked with different devices that the ports on my computer work.
Yes, I tried with different cables, also bought some brand new ones.
Yes, I changed the input settings from my cintiq.
Nothing worked, so I switched to the usb-c + DP. If there's anything else I could try to get the usb-c only setup working, please tell me. But with a device this pricey, I really didn't expect it to be this damn hard to set up.
Okay, after the hurdles of calibrating time and time again, setting up the touch settings to actually get them to stick, I got it working. Wonderfully! But now there's a new problem.
For reasons unknown, sometimes the cintiq doesn't connect YET it still does, hence the 'no signal'. As mentioned above, I'm using the usb-c + DP setup now, and when it works, it works with no issue.
But, for 80% of the time, when I open up the computer and turn on the cintiq, it tells me the there's no signal and goes to power saving mode a bit after, but both the Wacom center and the Wacom tablet properties tell me that cintiq is up and running. When I keep it at the 'no signal' state with touching or pen, those touches register and show on my main display, but there's no picture on the cintiq itself. Things I've tried:
- Turning the cintiq off and on again. Not helping, at least I didn't notice
- Turning the cintiq off, then turning the computer off and on again, and then the cintiq back on. This has helped, but it doesn't help always.
- Trying to switch cintiqs input settings from for example DP to HDMI and back, nothing
- From display settings on computer, trying to detect the displays
- Recalibrating the cintiq from Wacom tablet properties (it only finds my main display)
- Rebooting cintiqs drivers from Wacom center, no help
After an investment this expensive, all I can say that I'm currently very displeased and would not recommend this to anyone. It has taken thrice my time to try and solve all the issues, when I wanted to actually use the product.

Hi Ella Lyytikäinen,
Thanks for all the details and for being so thorough while troubleshooting by yourself.
Just to be clear, the Video and the Pen and Touch features if your Cintiq work completely independently. The Wacom Driver only controls the Pen and Touch input and not the device's ability to receive a video signal.
In other words, if you would uninstall the Wacom driver, and unplug the USB cable (keeping DisplayPort or HDMI still connected) you should still be able to get a video signal and use the Cintiq as an external display.
Also, please note that not all USB-C ports will be able to carry all data (image and Pen + Touch) so single connection might not always be possible - this is why we still include HDMI and DP options with device.
With that said, from what you describe, the issue can only be either with the video source (graphics card or computer mainboard) or the cables and connections.
Since you state that you already replaced the cables and you have verified that other devices work with your computer, we need to take a detailed look at how you are connecting the device precisely and narrow down the issue slowly.
- Looking at your computer specs, I assume you have a desktop computer. Which ports are available? Do you know the exact specifications of the ports?
- Have you installed all Windows updated as well as the nVidia updates for your Graphics Card?
- I also see that your processor has it's own GPU so make sure this is also correctly configured and make sure the Intel drivers are also installed.

Hi João, and thanks for the quick response!
Okay, thanks for the clarification on that, I'll need to double-check my computers usb-c ports, just to be sure. But that will require some groundwork and I'll try and get to that asap.
For the connectivity, I checked with your suggestions, anbd have some new data:
- Yes, desktop computer. I'll get more info on the ports when checking the usb-c ones too, so no exact data yet. However, the dp-port I'm using with the cintiq now was previously connected to an external display, and it hasn't had any connection issues previously.
- Windows updates and nVidia updates are up to date, as per the windows update panel (version 23H2, OS build 22631.2861), and GeForce experience (v.546.33, released 12.12.2023)
- I was missing the newest Intel driver, and downloaded that one + the Intel Arc, now I have the current version of 31.0.101.5084. Sadly it seems that it didn't help.
When I turn the cintiq on, System-> Display finds it, but places it in top right as a small box, unlike when it actually works and the size and placement correlate. Interestingly too, the Intel Arc control panels display-tab doesn't acknowledge it at all, only shows my main display. Here during these pictures, the cintiq is on and showing the 'no signal'-box.0 -
Hi João, any updates on how I should proceed? I don't think the issues above have been due the usb-c port qualities, but something going on with the software

Hi Ella Lyytikäinen,
Sorry I have somehow missed your previous reply.
I can assure this is not related with Wacom software.
Looking at your screenshots, the first states that the Cintiq is connected to the Intel graphics card which I assume means that you have connected the DisplayPort cable directly to the Motherboard.I can also see that you have setup your Desktop to "Show only on 2"
Please try:
- Use one of the video output options of your Nvidia card. Should look more or less like this:
If you need help, just send me a photo of the back of your PC.
- Set the desktop to "Extend these Displays"
Please let me know if that works.
0 - Use one of the video output options of your Nvidia card. Should look more or less like this:

João!
Good news, Nvidia connection was the main problem! Now it seems to connect with no issues (ofc had to recalibrate and remap due all the tests, but that's understandable). Now it seems to connect every time with no issue!
For anyone running to same problem and connect to the graphics card, noticed a few derived problems from this:
- Artefacts appeared on screen, but connection works --> was due my cables not supporting the set refresh rate
- Strange 'jitter' sometimes on screen --> I had the option of hiding the taskbar on, disabling that removed the jitter.
Tested it for a few days, turning the cintiq on and off several times, and all seems to be good now! If I want better refresh rate, I'll have to invest in a new cable extension, but other than that, all works now!
Thank you so much for the help!1
