How to use Wacom pen in mouse mode with Windows Ink enabled

    Hi Andrew Hoang

    1. Windows Ink is Windows own pen input control method. When you have it turned ON, the Wacom driver will use this to give the inputs to the system. When you turn it off, the Wacom Driver will use Wintab instead. Neither Windows Ink or Wintab work with standard mouse input.
When you switch to Mouse mode in the Wacom Tablet properties, the Windows Ink checkbox is hidden to not cause confusion since in mouse mode, neither Windows Ink or Wintab are used.
Could you clarify why a) you would like to have this as a feature and b) what is your expected behaviour.
I'll be happy to submit a request then.

    2. I will make a request to the team.

Hi, thank you so much for the support.

With windows ink enabled, whenever i hover over the white space of Microsoft Word, it recognizes my pen as input device and i can start writing immediately. Furthermore, there is pen pressure so the hand writing is much better.

With mouse mode, I can customize the speed of my pen on the tablet and control the position of cursor on screen effortlessly. This affects the way I write a lot.

Hence, the combination of having mouse mode while windows ink enabled is very important, especially to those who are familiar with using mouse mode and having tablet as pen to write with pressure.

    Hi Andrew Hoang

Thanks for the explanation. I understand now what you mean.

Unfortunately, I as mentioned, it is not possible to use Windows Ink in Mouse mode because the Wacom driver is not sending the data as a pen but as a regular Mouse. Note that the Pen pressure data is still sent in Mouse mode, but it is then depending on the app in question to be able to read this information from a Mouse input device which is usually not setup.

Since most most mouses don't provide pressure data, most apps don't build support for this.

This is an unfortunate trade-off that we cannot control.

What I would suggest is perhaps to have the tablet setup to that when Word is the active Window, the tablet works in Pen mode, and with every other application, the tablet would work in Mouse mode.

    Something like this:

thank you so much for support. Unfortunately this does not help at all as I mainly use my tablet for writing on MS words only. Hopefully in the near future Wacom can support like this
