6.4.8-2 CAUSES BSOD

    Hi Aleksey Sheludchenko

Sorry to read that. It can certainly be frustrating.
However, the driver on it's own cannot cause BSOD. It's just a program running like any other software. The root cause must be a conjunction with something else.

    • What does the BSOD error report state?
    • Does it happen if you don't have the Cintiq plugged?
    • Did you notice if any specific action triggers this?

Also what is the message in Event viewer?

"However, the driver on it's own cannot cause BSOD. It's just a program running like any other software."
    -Is this a joke?

    • Drivers are not just ordinary programs; they are responsible for hardware and OS communication.

    • Drivers operate with higher system privileges, meaning issues can affect core system functions, unlike regular software.

    • Faulty or incompatible drivers can cause system-wide instability, leading to crashes such as BSOD.

    • There are numerous documented instances where bad drivers have caused BSOD, proving their impact on system stability.

I suggest you research on this topic more. ^

      To answer your other questions:

    • Every BSOD had a different error message from "kmode exception not handled" to "dpbus.sys errors"
    • It ONLY happened when Cintiq was plugged and the only way to get back into windows was unplugging it.
    • Specific action was INSTALLING 6.4.8-2 and restarting my computer
    • As soon as wacom center and drivers were uninstalled computer started booting up again.

Please forward this to whoever is responsible for driver support.

    Hi Aleksey Sheludchenko

Which Windows version are you using exactly?

Drivers use system resources and are responsible for hardware communication with the OS, that is 100% correct.

Myself and many users have the same driver installed and we are not seeing BSOD issues. If the root cause of the crash was the driver alone, then I would also have this crash along with all the other Windows users.

Unfortunately, Windows crashes are always tricky to troubleshoot for this same reason.

Luckily, since you confirmed that crash only happens when the device is plugged, this already gives us a good lead.

    • Would it be possible to test the Cintiq Pro 16 with a different computer and and the same driver version?
If the crash also occurs with the second computer when the Cintiq Pro is plugged in, this would confirm there is a hardware issue with the Cintiq Pro
Is this case replacing the USB cable or sending the device for repair would be needed.

If it's not possible to test with a different computer, or if there is no crash with another computer, please try all the recommended Microsoft steps:
