Intuos Pro Medium & OSX Sequoia - New driver 6.4.9-2 breaks Pan/Scroll in some apps completely!
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else has run into this —
I’m seeing major issues with Wacom tablet pan/scroll performance in DaVinci Resolve under macOS Sequoia 15.4. It’s been a bit of a nightmare to be honest.
Here’s what’s happening:
-
On the latest Wacom driver (6.4.9-2), the pan/scroll function is completely erratic and unusable inside DaVinci Resolve.
-
It scrolls, but it's jumpy, inconsistent, and totally impractical for real use — especially on the timeline or color page.
-
Switching between "Pan/Scroll" and "Pan/Scroll (Legacy)" makes no difference.
-
-
Other apps seem better behaved (I haven’t tested everything), but DaVinci Resolve is definitely where it breaks the most.
-
The only version where pan/scroll still works properly is the older 6.3.40-2 driver — on that version, scrolling is smooth and responsive, exactly how it should be.
BUT...
-
That older driver is no longer officially supported on macOS 15.4.
-
So now I have to manually ‘Allow’ the Wacom driver in System Settings > Privacy & Security every single time I reboot, or it just won’t load. Super annoying.
Also — separate issue:
-
On both drivers (new and old), I’m seeing a 20–30 second delay before the pen responds — but only right after logging into macOS.
-
So after entering the password and getting to the desktop, there’s a weird lag before the pen comes online.
-
Once that initial delay is over, the pen behaves normally — except for the pan/scroll issue on the new driver.
-
Summary:
-
6.4.9-2: Driver loads fine (after granting permission), but scrolling is broken in DaVinci Resolve
-
6.3.40-2: Scrolling works, but driver won’t load without re-allowing it every reboot
-
Both drivers: ~30 second pen delay after OS login, then fine
-
Thanks a lot for reaching out and all the details.
-
6.4.9-2: Driver loads fine (after granting permission), but scrolling is broken in DaVinci Resolve
- We'll investigate this.
-
6.3.40-2: Scrolling works, but driver won’t load without re-allowing it every reboot
- The permissions reset is macOS. We have no control over the Privacy and Security settings in the OS. We aren't allowed to programmatically change this, it can only be changed by the user or the OS itself. It is strange that you are being asked each time as normally the OS only requests this once.
- Does this mean that scrolling is broken again in DaVince Resolve with the 6.3.41 driver?
-
Both drivers: ~30 second pen delay after OS login, then fine
- Are they using an Apple Silicon based device (M1, M2, etc)? If so, we are aware of this issue and have a planned project to refactor our startup code to improve this in those environments.

Hey João,
Thanks for the prompt reponse.Yes, apologies, I should have clarified that I am indeed on a Apple Silicon machine (M1 Ultra Studio) and the issue around loading time did arise with my move to Apple Silicon.
The 6.3.40-2 driver used to not require permission on every boot with Sonoma, but I think the resolve scrolling issue was present on that OS as well, from memory. I seem to have a faint recollection of needing to roll back before as well.
I have enabled every possible Wacom thing in my security prefs, but it still asks every time, it just didn't do that with the newer driver, just the older legacy one I have to use.
Yeah, really have no idea why the scroll function doesn't work in Resolve. It's super weird. hope you can provide some info on that, as I'm stuck between the rock and the hard place on this one. It's very annoying, but at least it's not a show stopper.
Certainly it will prevent me from using Wacom products into the future however as I spend a lot of time in resolve and navigating the UI quickly is critical.0 -
Hi Christian Fitzpatrick ACS,
Thanks a lot for the additional info. Just to be clear, did you try any other driver besides 6.3.40-2 and the latest one?It would be important to understand what is the difference between driver 6.3.40-2 where scrolling is working as expected and any other driver where it doesn't work. If its a driver closer to 6.3.40-2 it will be easier to compare the code.
Regarding the permissions resetting, keep in mind that that driver was only ever intended for macOS 10.15. Perhaps it is doing something the OS doesn't like and gets reset each time.
