Pen Lag on Cintiq Pro 27 with macOS 15.4.1 (Sonoma)
Dear Wacom Support,
I am experiencing significant pen lag and input stuttering when using my Cintiq Pro 27 on macOS Sonoma. Here's a summary of my system and what I’ve tried:
-
macOS version: 15.4.1 (Sonoma)
-
Wacom driver version: Latest version (and I also tested older versions like 6.4.5-2)
-
Firmware: Updated to the latest Cintiq Pro 27 firmware
-
Device: Cintiq Pro 27
-
Connection: USB-C directly to Mac (no hub or dock)
-
Additional hardware: The issue occurs even with no other USB or Thunderbolt devices connected
I also tested:
-
Switching refresh rate to 60Hz
I checked all cables
-
Disabling touch input
-
My previous Wacom Cintiq from 2018 works perfectly on this same Mac
Despite all this, pen input remains inconsistent — with frequent stutters and delays that make drawing difficult.
Could you please advise if this is a known compatibility issue with Sonoma or the Cintiq Pro 27? Is there an upcoming driver fix planned, or any recommended workaround?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards,
Monique Wijbrands

Thanks for reaching out and providing all the details.
First of all, let me assure you there is no compatibility issue between Sonoma 15.4.1 and any of the current Wacom devices in production - and even some older ones. Also, if there was an issue with the driver(s), you wouldn't be able to work with your other Cintiq from 2018 so let's focus on the Cintiq Pro 27 itself instead.
Some additional questions:
- Does the Lag occur only with a specific App, or all across the operating system?
- If only with a specific App(s), which one(s)?
- If you use the older pen from your other Cintiq on the Cintiq Pro 27, does the same lag occur?

Hi João
Thank you for your message.
It happens all across the operating system, even typing this message. I haven't tried it with my older pen, and i can't try the older pen now because that pen is in another place, but i assume that won't work because is an older type of wacom pen that doesn't match with the cintiq 27pro

Hi Monique Wijbrands,
If you have a Cintiq from 2018, you're most likely using the Pro Pen 2 which is indeed compatible with your Cintiq Pro 27. If you have the chance, it is totally worth the try.Now to continue with your main issue, I would need to see a video of what you are seeing to troubleshoot this further. We will need to see how exactly the cursor is responding to the pen movements.
In the meantime, here are a few steps you can also try:

Hi João
I took my older pen to work today, it is a grip pen (according to wacom center) and it does work on my cintiq 27. But it has the same lagging.
I am also in a chat with the wacom support and he advised me to take the nib of my pen out and leave it out for 24hrs. I left it out overnight (16hrs) but no change.
I checked the list and did the diagnostic test.I am sending you a short video of the diagnostic test in which you can also see the lagging (after 20 seconds) the lagging does not only appear when I move the pen away and back, also drawing in photoshop and also in all other apps.Because the short movie is 45mb I am sending it by wetransfer, this is the download link:I am also attaching some screenshots of the diagnostic test and the permissions and the two pens in my wacom center0
