Using link plus causes heating issues in cintiq pro 16? any solutions?
I've been using my wacom pro 16 (DTH-1620) for 3-4 years now on my old laptop, I was able to use the usb-c connection directly with a single cable. never had heat problems even in the hottest of rooms, worked like a charm.
now that I've had to use the wacom link plus to try and get this thing to work on my new computer, its had heating issues like crazy. I kid you not, not even a full 5 minutes of having it turned on and it starts to heat up like it never did before. If I keep it on it just keeps getting hotter and hotter over the entire screen, it doesn't ever cap off at a certain temp. the backside is perfectly cool, its the font screen that's hot. Not to mention I'm running it at 2k, since 4k heats it up dangerously so, in a matter of seconds.
I used to use this thing every day for 6+ hours on end. This is driving me crazy and I'm worried about the longevity of my cintiq if I'm supposed to just... use this thing while its this hot. and not even at the full res no less.
How hot is the cintiq pro 16 supposed to get while using the wacom link plus?
And is the waocm link plus also supposed to get very hot to touch while in use?
because clearly theres some kind of heating issue ONLY when using the wacom link plus. I don't have a thunderbolt port but when I did it worked fabulously. now I don't have that port anymore and its been nothing but a world of problems.
is there a singe cable (startech?) id be able to get to connect straight from the cintiq, to the pc without the wacom link if that's causing the heating issue?

Hi Gianna Caldera,
I find it weird that this would only happen with the Link Plus. The device gets the same signal and processes the data the same way with the Plus or without. All the signal conversion from Thunderbolt to HDMI or DisplayPort happens outside the Cintiq Pro so there is no reason for it to warm-up just because the Wacom Link Plus is used.
What can happen is that since your device already has a few years, the heat management is not as good as it used to be. Perhaps a clean-up of the internals would help.
For now, I would recommend seeing if lowering the brightness to lower level that you can still work with would help. If if it is still too warm, please check with the regional support team if it would be possible to have the device checked.
