MacOS insane lag / freeze while drawing
I draw on photoshop, but I have seen this happen on Clip Studio swell. While drawing, I get crazy CPU spikes (up to 80% or more) and everything starts to lag. It happens very often.
My setup:
- Triple screen Setup, MacOS Sequoia. M4 PRO
- Intuos Pro 2017 (PTH 660)
What I tried:
- Updating tablet firmware and drivers. It went from freezing (well documented issue) to lagging. CPU spike is even greater. So the issue is present with older versions of the drivers and firmware. But instead of lagging everything freezes.
- Changing the port, attaching the tablet directly and not from a hub.
- Using bluetooth
- Using older versions of photoshop. That looked like it fixed it, for a while. But the issue returns. Anyone got some tips on how to fix this? Do I have to buy a Huion device?

Sorry to read you are going through this. Thanks for trying all these things already and sharing the results. Normally, I would recommend you to check the Ps settings but since you report that this also happens with CSP, I don't think this will solve everything. Still worth trying as it may partially sort the lagging problem and may also be applicable for CSP:

I'm glad the freezing issue is gone and that it was fixed by updating the driver. That let's us know that at least that part is working as expected.
For the rest of the troubleshooting, please using only direct USB-C connection as that is the most stable and steady connection.
- I know this might be a lot to ask, but could you describe a bit further in details how exactly it happens and perhaps make a video?
Lag can be perceived in may different ways and have different reasons and also different solutions. Pinpointing the exact lag issue will help a great deal. - Do you have Touch input turned ON or OFF? Does anything change when you toggle the switch?
- Could you collect logs and share them with the support team directly?
